David Morgans

Short Bio: David Morgans is Director Destination and Experience Development at Tourism and Events Queensland. David is responsible for guiding the corporation’s experience development and marketing framework, destination management strategies and the development of the key experience sectors including ecotourism and Indigenous tourism.

David joined what was then the Queensland Tourist and Travel Corporation (QTTC) in 1997 and over the last 20 years has held a range of positions including Director Product Development, Director Market Development, Director Sustainable Tourism and Manager Environmental Tourism.

Prior to joining the QTTC, David worked at Brisbane Forest Park for 11 years, nine as Manager, where he was responsible for overseeing the recreation, tourism and resource management of the 28,500 ha park on Brisbane’s outskirts. From 1980 to 1986 David was employed as an Environmental Planner by a Brisbane based consultancy to undertake environmental and town planning projects throughout Queensland and Australia.

David has a Bachelor of Environmental Science from Griffith University in Brisbane and a Post Graduate Diploma in Urban & Regional Planning from the University of New England. David’s career over the last 37 years has specialised in tourism planning and policy development, destination management, ecotourism, sustainable tourism, environmental and regional planning, and protected area management.
